Ainu Tales
Here is a list of numerous Ainu folktales that I have translated from some books that I bought while in Hokkaidou from some Ainu folk. They're going to be posted in the same order as the books themselves. Unfortunately these books aren't really available in America, or I would link to them -- they seem to be handmade books from the actual Ainu people of the community.
These stories might be different than the versions of the legends that you might have heard (for any Ainu aficionados out there). This is merely because almost every single folk tale, myth, or story has numerous versions. Because the books are largely unavailable in America, I will simply copy the Japanese and translate them on each page. |

This is a book that I didn't use to compile these stories. I bought it and am loving it! I recommend this book!
The stories here might be a bit different than those below. |

Ainu Legends
*Apparently it is much more common to see this spelled "コロポックル". However, I will translate the document I have! |
