This story involves Mt. Komagatake (it should be called "Mt. Komaga" -- the "take" part of the name actually means "mountain peak") in the town of Mori which is on the Oshima Peninsula in Hokkaidou. Mt. Komaga is an active volcano that erupted, most recently, in the year 2000.
